I started my art career in my childhood, when as an elementary school student I started helping my elementary school teachers decorate their classrooms with wall art for open houses, back to school nights and other such special events. While in high school I took every art class that I could squeeze into my college prep schedule and won numerous art awards in the local community of Concord and Walnut Creek in the youth category. Before and during college I had my artwork featured in two different local galleries in Contra Costa County (in Lafayette and Orinda). I graduated from California State University, Hayward, with a BA degree in Art with an emphasis in painting and spent an additional year of school attaining my teaching credential. After which, I went on to become an art instructor at Dublin High School, in Dublin CA. As an adult, as I aged and matured in my walk with the Lord, I realized that my art talent wasn't really my own, but was a gift from God. It is something that I am very thankful for and want to use to for the enjoyment of others and to enrich lives. I hope this website, and the artworks I have created and displayed, inspire and please all of you who view them. I am married, and my wife Patricia and I have five grandchildren, all of whom love to draw and take on creative art projects. In addition, my five grandchildren challenged my to not tell them stories, but to write them stories -genre science fiction/fantasy books. To date I have published five novels and I am working on a fourth. You can find my books at Amazon.com Books, just type in my name as author - Joseph Banuat. For those of you who would like to view my artwork in person, you can regularly see a number of my paintings and prints displayed at theCameron Park Cafe & Deli, on Cameron Park Drive across from the Cameron Park airport.
